Katherine Howard // Founder
Some people find their calling in a single moment. I found mine in a thousand conversations.
Born in Colombia, raised across Latin America, and now building a life in the United States, I have spent my entire life moving between cultures, languages, and landscapes. That upbringing gave me something I carry into every trip I plan: a genuine understanding of what it feels like to belong somewhere new.
Before founding Nomatika, I spent years in HR connecting people across industries from healthcare and fintech to hospitality and legal. That work taught me one thing above all else: people are motivated by experiences, not things. What drives us is how we feel, what we see, and who we become along the way.
Friends and colleagues would listen to me describe a hidden property in Costa Rica, a local family-run experience in Colombia, the best photo spot down a sun-lit alley in Amsterdam, or a hands-on chocolate making class in Belgium, and the conversation always ended the same way. "Can you take me there?" So I did. Again and again, I planned the trips, made the connections, and watched people return home changed.
Nomatika grew from those moments. The name brings together Noma, the spirit of the nomad, and Tika, the Costa Rican word for someone authentic and from the heart. Nomatika is also joined by my husband, a well-traveled industry veteran whose experience across dozens of countries quietly shapes every trip we build together.
I raise my American-born kids with the same belief I grew up with in Costa Rica. Pura Vida. Pure life. The best things you will ever own are the memories you make.
When you travel with Nomatika, you travel with someone who already knows the way.
